This sterling silver pendant was designed by me and handmade by the artisans of my shop, SERRA, opened in Rome in 1910 and located in via Margutta 57, in the historic center of the city, a few steps from Piazza di Spagna! In the center of the pendant, there is an authentic Greek coin (4th century BC) depicting a Gorgon. Gorgons were often used in ancient times as “apotropaic masks”, that is, as symbols capable of keeping evil spirits and negative influences at a distance. The malevolent entities should have been frightened by their monstrous features, and also provoked by their protruded tongue in an attitude of defiance and derision. All our jewels come with a certificate of authenticity which certifies their origin from the Greek or Roman world.
