Freshwater pearls are cultivated in lakes or rivers, achieving a recent surge in quality, characterized by their remarkable consistency in shape and brilliance. These precious gems are born within oysters found in nature. In ancient times, people would venture into the sea to fish for these mollusks, hoping to discover precious treasures. However, since the early 1900s, pearl cultivation techniques have been developed, largely thanks to the pioneering work of Japanese researcher Mikimoto.

Mikimoto observed that when a foreign object entered an oyster, the mollusk would produce a substance called nacre or mother of pearl, consisting primarily of calcium carbonate. This substance would completely cover the foreign body, resulting in the formation of a pearl. Since then, the cultivation of pearls has continued unabated. As living organisms, pearls require regular maintenance. It is essential to wear them, as the hydration from the human body helps preserve their inherent beauty.
